The Original Bandito Burrito Co. on Governors Dr in Huntsville opened its doors for business some 21 years ago in the fall of 1990. Bringing his many years of experience in the restaurant business to Huntsville from California in the late 60’s, Oscar Gutierrez built his foundation on one simple principle-consistency. Bandito Burrito has grown to a “Local Legend” status by serving great Mexican food at a great price for many years. It is the second oldest Mexican restaurant in Huntsville.
The menu features a selection of burritos like the Grande, No Carne, Green Bean, Picadillo and Chlie Verde. Tacos, Super Nachos, Tamales, Enchiladas, Chile Rellenos, Fish Tacos, Steak burrito, Smoked Chicken burrito, Taco Salad and much more. All menu items including the salsa and guacamole are made fresh daily and you’ll be pleased to find no fillers or substitutes here. Everything is real and fresh.
The Original Bandito Burrito Co. has earned many accolades and awards throughout the years. Bandito ranks in the top 5 restaurants for “Best Lunch” in Huntsville year in and year out, and is known as a “Must Eat” by its patrons. Bandito is also one of a few places where Oscar and the staff really get to know their customers. A lost “art” of sorts. People feel at home and enjoy the laid back atmosphere including a nice patio. The food is FANTASTIC and there is something for everyone, including many vegetarian items.
All that eat there know Oscar and he knows them. Many sunny, warm days, you’ll find him sitting out front on the church pews. Greeting the locals as they come and go. Usually with a good joke or a razz with his quick wit. Oscar keeps it real and truly has become a fixture in this town. Having car trouble? He knows how or who can fix it. Need something? He just saw it somewhere. Hungry? Definitely got that one covered.
The Original Bandito Burrito on Governors Drive is a Huntsville landmark and the food is undoubtedly a Local Legend.
